Will the Lab Know if I Use Someone Else’s Urine for a Drug Test?

Updated on June 22, 2020

While it is unlikely if you play your card well, there are situations where it is almost impossible to cheat on a drug urine test by substituting another person’s urine for your own.

Did I hear you ask, what sought of situation?

Well, because a urine sample used for testing needs to meet certain conditions such as ambient temperature etc., the design and/or act of substituting anyone else’s urine or even fake urine for a test might not be a smart idea if it’s an impromptu test or if you are required to provide the urine under observation.

But if any of these scenarios do not apply to you, then I think you can get away with it if you just do it right.

How to get away with using someone else’s urine

For as long as I can remember, people have sought to cheat on a urine test for various reasons. While some might do it for the thrill, others do it to beat the system, particularly if they know that they would be found wanting for alcohol and/or substance abuse.

While the process of getting someone you trust to provide their urine for your use for a urine test can be too tasking, the result is often not as you might have envisaged. Sometimes, the stress is not just worth it.

This is where the synthetic pee comes in.

Fake Urine

Synthetic urine or fake pee is a special formula designed to closely resemble real urine and mimics its characteristics. Since its discovery, fake urine has found a variety of purposes, such as:

  • Science and other research
  • Alternative medicine, such as urine therapy
  • Fetish urine and for pranks
  • Urine substitution for nicotine, alcohol or substance abuse test

The science behind fake pee continues to evolve and the quality continues to be made perfect to match the changing dynamics of urine testing. Med Signals scientific journal writes that good fake pee such as Sub Solution would not only meet the conditions of normal pee, but it would also match the chemical and physical values of the human urine.

Ideally, the human urine is expected to have an ambient temperature range of 94°-100°F and chemical and physical values listed below;

  • pH balance in the range of 4.5 – 8.0, with 6.0 being optimal
  • Specific gravity, which must be between 1.002 and 1.0030
  • Creatinine levels from 601 mg to 2936 mg/day

In testing urine, the laboratory technician would ensure that the urine before testing meets the temperature requirements and then go on to test for adulterants and other values. Fake urine passes this scrutiny comfortably up to 99% as long as it is prepared correctly.

Can The Lab Detect My Fake Urine?

In the past, when synthetic urine formulas were less sophisticated, they were quickly spotted by laboratory urine testing, which is why they weren’t used as synthetic urine for drug test.

Nowadays, best synthetic urine kits contain all the necessary elements like urea and uric acid, creatine, B vitamins and various minerals.

In other words, synthetic urine from reputable companies can’t be detected by laboratory test. Even well-known collection sites like Quest Diagnostics and LabCorp can’t tell the difference between good fake pee and natural urine.
