Vaccine Providers Lauded for Outstanding Pediatric Vaccination Rates

Updated on October 29, 2013

The Allegheny County Health Department is pleased to announce that two local vaccine providers in the Pennsylvania Vaccine for Children (VFC) Program have been recognized as VFC Champions for having high pediatric immunization rates.

Kids Plus Pediatrics, 4070 Beechwood Boulevard, Squirrel Hill/Greenfield, and Pediatrics South, 5676 Steubenville Pike, McKees Rocks, were both recognized for having outstanding immunization rates among their patients, with Kids Plus Pediatrics achieving a perfect 100% and Pediatrics South 92%.

“We commend these vaccine providers for their success in promoting immunizations and encouraging parents to keep their kids up to date with recommended vaccination schedules. Because of their efforts our children and communities are better protected against vaccine preventable-diseases” said Health Director Dr. Karen Hacker.

Immunization records as well as vaccine storage and handling practices of providers in the Vaccine for Children Program are audited annually by the Quality Assurance Nurse in Allegheny County for the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

The awards, based on audits from August 17, 2012 to July 31, 2013, were presented earlier this month at the Allegheny County Immunization Coalition’s eighth annual conference for nurses, doctors, medical office staff and other health professionals.
