VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System has selected a site on Towne Square Drive in Greensburg for its new Westmoreland County outpatient clinic.
The facility is to be located just off Route 30 at the Mt. Pleasant Road exit, near a Hampton Inn. The site is a vacant lot immediately past a former Gander Mountain store, about one mile west of the current Westmoreland County VA Outpatient Clinic behind Westmoreland Mall.
The General Services Administration on Jan. 28 awarded an $8.7 million, 15-year build-to-suit lease to Michael Downing Realty, Ltd., of Cleveland, Ohio, to secure the site.
Expected to open in two years, the new clinic will be twice the size of the existing 17,000-square-foot clinic at the mall. It will provide veterans with the same services currently available to them, with additional space for specialty care such as audiology, chiropractic, acupuncture, physical therapy and an infusion room for certain hematology/oncology chemotherapy treatments.
To allow veterans to receive specialty care closer to home, the new clinic will have dedicated clinical space on a rotating basis for VA Pittsburgh specialists in orthopedics, ENT, cardiology, gastroenterology, etc. In addition, a swing-space office will be available for veterans to meet with representatives from the Veterans Benefits Administration, American Legion, VFW and other veterans service organizations.
