U.S. News’ Ranks Duquesne University Among Nation’s Best Online Programs

Updated on February 12, 2024

Several online programs at Duquesne University have again been nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report, a respected authority in education rankings. The 2024 Best Online Programs rankings evaluated 1,752 online bachelor’s and master’s degree programs at regionally accredited institutions and ranked 1,680 of them.

The Duquesne University online degrees ranked this year include:

  • No. 36 Master’s in Nursing
  • No. 59 Bachelor’s Programs in Business
  • No. 63 Master’s in Education
  • No. 98 Bachelor’s Programs.

The Master’s in Education marks a 34-spot climb from the 2023 rankings.

“We have a longstanding history of preparing educators who make an impact,” said Dr. Gretchen Generett, dean of Duquesne’s School of Education. “Our students build professional confidence, gain impressive experience and benefit from the support of outstanding faculty and staff who trust in their potential to become world-class educators.”

Additionally, Duquesne ranked among the top 10 institutions in the following specialty areas:

No. 3 Master’s in Nursing Education

No. 4 Master’s in Family Nurse Practitioner

No. 6 Master’s in Nursing Administration

No. 9 Master’s in Nursing for Veterans.

“We enthusiastically challenge our students as they challenge themselves, helping them realize their boldest goals as nursing graduates and faculty who move on to make a difference as practitioners, researchers, educators, scholars, leaders and innovators,” said Dr. Mary Ellen Glasgow, dean of the Duquesne University School of Nursing, a longtime pioneer in online education. “Our continued recognition in these rankings affirm that our ongoing commitment to our students’ success is indeed worthwhile.”

While the methodology for each discipline in the ranking is different, U.S. News considers metrics that assess how well programs are designed for distance learners and their effectiveness at awarding affordable degrees in a reasonable timeframe.

“Choosing the right online degree program can unlock a world of opportunities,” LaMont Jones, managing editor for education at U.S. News, said. “As distance learning continues to rise, the rankings and related resources U.S. News offers will help equip students with data to make choices that align with their unique needs, paving the way for educational and professional fulfillment.”
