The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh to Host Transitioning an Adolescent with Autism Seminar on March 25, 2017

Event is open to all physicians, therapists, educators, students, parents and families

The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh will host the seminar, Transitioning an Adolescent with Autism: Educational, Therapeutic and Biomedical Considerations on Saturday, March 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at its Squirrel Hill campus in Pittsburgh.

This seminar is designed for all physicians, therapists, educators, students, parents and families interested in transitioning young adults and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders to adulthood. The Course Director is Scott Faber, MD, Director, Developmental Pediatrics, The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh.

After attending this session, participants will be able to:

  • Determine the steps necessary to transition an adolescent with autism from a high school or private school program to a range of educational, vocational, and collegiate opportunities.
  • Identify a set of organizations and professionals who can help maximize an adolescent with autism’s biomedical status, family legal safeguards, and skill set.
  • Analyze best practices in service delivery and the pursuit of appropriate living and housing situations for adolescents with autism transitioning into young adulthood.
