Shredding for the Summer! How to Get Lean in Time for Beach Season

Updated on June 29, 2020

Summer is here and that means beach season is in full effect! Preparing for your beach body usually starts in the spring, right before summer begins. This year, however, brought on a few different obstacles for us to overcome.

If you feel as though you’ve been set back in your journey to finding your beach body, you’re not alone. You might be feeling anxious or disappointed, but don’t. We’re here to tell you how to get lean right now and build the beach body you’ve been dreaming of.

It’s time to get out of bed, get off the couch, and continue reading below. Here’s our full list of how to get lean fast.

Wake up and Stretch

You want to get lean and fast. To do so, your mind automatically goes to intense workouts and dieting. However, that’s not where we want you to start out.

Instead, start your leaning process by waking up each morning and stretching. You can’t get a solid workout in if you don’t stretch first. Failure to stretch before working out could lead to injuries, which can then push back your results.

Create a stretching routine that stretches out the muscles that you use most or will be working out the most.

Count Your Calories

Trying to eat less or healthier only works if you’re actually counting your calories. Blindly dieting won’t do much good if you’re not sure exactly how many calories you need to cut back or how many calories you should be consuming each day to meet your goal.

The number of calories that you should consume each day depends on your current body weight, your desired body weight, and how lean you’re trying to become. There are a few calculators online or free in apps that’ll ask you to input certain information and will then tell you how many calories you need to consume each day.

Be sure to count all calories on anything that you consume and write it down to keep track.

Schedule Routine Cardio

Cardio might be one of the least liked workouts, but you need to include it in your workout routine if you want to get the beach body and fast. Each day, set your alarm for about 40 minutes earlier than normal. Wake up in the morning and complete your 30-40 minutes of daily cardio.

Get the heart pumping and get your body sweating. You can complete your cardio at home or at the gym. Finding ways to get your cardio in at home will be more convenient for you, which might lead to better success.

Each day you complete your morning cardio, you’ll be that much closer to your beach body.

Stay Hydrated

While you’re putting yourself through an intense workout/diet plan to get your summer body quickly, you need to remember to stay hydrated. If you want to burn fat properly and regulate your appetite, then you need to stay hydrated.

This is especially true with summer weather approaching. Although you might feel hydrated after drinking your favorite teas or other dieting drinks, it’s essential that you still get enough water throughout the day.

Find a Way to Work Out at Home

One of the reasons why so many people fall back into their old habits and don’t stick to their weight-loss plans is the lack of motivation to hit the gym. Some people enjoy driving to the gym and working out amongst other people, but this isn’t for everyone.

If you lack that motivation to work out in the gym or would just rather work out in privacy, then you’ll need to find ways to work out at home. Home workouts are just as effective as gym workouts, and you don’t even have to leave your neighborhood.

Use the items already inside your home to become your own personal gym. Steps are great for tricep dips, bath towels can aid in push-ups, and you can use your wall to complete wall sits. Yoga is another great way to work out and doesn’t require you to leave your home.

Cut Out Sugar and Unhealthy Fat

When wanting to get lean and toned, you need to cut out sugars and unhealthy fats. You shouldn’t be skipping meals altogether or eating less to lose weight. What you need to do is eat healthier.

Focus on eating vegetables, healthy fats, and proteins. Cutting back on food as a whole will make your body weak. Eat 3 full healthy meals a day and include some healthy snacks in between as well.

As you work out your body, it’ll need these healthy foods, especially the proteins to recover from the workout.

Complete a Fat Loss Diet

You want your summer body to be lean yet muscular. You don’t want to lose fat and your muscles during your leaning process. That’s why you should focus on a body builder fat loss program.

This type of diet will include staying full off of whole grains, consuming lean proteins, counting your calories, and all the other healthy ways to get to your weight goal.
