Providence Point Offers Taste Tour with No Travel Required

Pittsburgh senior living community dishes out cultures from its own kitchen

From the sunny shores of Hawaii, swaying gondolas in the Venetian lagoon, to the foothills and beaten path of Maine, residents at Providence Point are receiving a taste of different cultures at their own dining table.

With many residents having traveled as far as Africa, lived in Europe, and vacationed on the West Coast, cuisine is often a hot topic to discuss and compare.  Providence Point dining staff wanted to turn the cuisine discussion into menu options.

Director of Dining Services, Cheryl Rastetter, recognized the need to change things up to uplift positivity and put more excitement in meals.  Day-to-day routine has been the norm and dinner is often the focal point of the day.

With the feeling of monotony at an all time high, and elaborate travel not currently on the table, Providence Point is serving its jetsetters by offering curated, specialized menus, with a focus on different cultures.  Plus, Providence Point’s multiple dining venues are closed during pandemic regulations, so the service staff is delivering these dishes to resident doors.

Plates have included mouthwatering options like the Viva Italiano! Menu.  The options included prosciutto wrapped shrimp with fresh mozzarella balls and basil pesto, grilled swordfish with beurre blanc sauce, and grilled asparagus, roasted artichokes and tomatoes pasta, and more.  Other themed meals included tastes from the tropics of Hawaii to the lighthouse views of Maine.
