Your health should be a priority regardless of your age. If you’re someone that does not like to go to the doctor or doesn’t think twice when new pains or abnormalities pop up, now is the best time to make changes. Being vigilant about your feminine health can help detect health concerns while they’re still in the early stages and possibly treatable. Pay close attention to your body and visit the doctor for regular wellness checks.  

Vaginal Care Products 

Your feminine hygiene is important. It can make any woman self-conscious to have an unpleasant smell down there. If you choose to use vaginal care products of any kind, you should take the time to research the ingredients beforehand. 

Make sure to go with trusted brands, and if you’re not sure about something, you can ask your doctor for their opinion. If you find that feminine products are not helping to make the odor go away, it may be time for an appointment with your gynecologist to help find the root cause of the odor as well as a plan to eliminate it. 

Skincare 

Your skin is a huge part of your body, and it has a big role in protecting your body which is why you should prioritize keeping it healthy. If you’ve had the same skincare routine for years but find that your skin might not look as healthy as it should, you might want to look into what you’re using and determine if you should change any of the products. There is a chance that the products you’re using are damaging your skin instead of helping it. 

It’s a good practice to switch to skincare products made from natural ingredients versus inexpensive products you can find in drugstores. Your skincare routine should include a gentle cleanser, a good moisturizer, and sunscreen, even in the winter. 

Depression and Anxiety 

Many women experience signs of depression and anxiety but never get it treated because they feel like it’s normal. Some signs to look out for include feeling restless, having difficulty concentrating, having sleep problems, headaches, irritability, feelings of sadness, and decreased self-care. One thing to keep in mind is that you’re not alone in how you feel, and there’s help out there for you. Treatment can look different for different individuals and can come in the form of talking to someone, medications, self-care techniques, journaling, and more. 

Ovarian and Cervical Cancer 

As a woman, it’s a good idea to pay close attention to your body so you can detect when things no longer feel right. Ovarian and cervical cancers are something to look out for. Symptoms of gynecologic cancers include itching, burning, or pain in the vulva, frequent and more urgent need to urinate, pelvic pain and pressure, and abnormal bleeding or discharge. If you notice a chance and are concerned, it won’t hurt to make an appointment with your gynecologist to help you figure out what may be going on. 

Maintaining Healthy Weight 

Getting your weight under control and maintaining a healthy weight should be a priority for all women. Obesity can cause a variety of health conditions, including sleep apnea, gallbladder disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, mental illness, and coronary heart disease. 

If you’re struggling with your weight and you’re not sure where to start, you can start by making an appointment to talk to your primary health provider. They can recommend exercise and diet options that make the most sense for you. They may even put in a recommendation for you to meet with a nutritionist or other specialists such as surgical or medical weight loss doctors. With certain lifestyle changes, eating in moderation, and adding in physical exercise, you’ll be on the path headed in the right direction.
