Get Enough Sleep

You should also make sure you get enough sleep. Like water, it can be hard to know how much you should get, but most adults need about 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night.

You should be careful though. Sometimes, getting too much sleep can also give you a headache. Try and aim for just the perfect amount of sleep each night to avoid any headaches or pain when you wake up.

If you went out and drank too much alcohol the night before, you will probably wake up with a hangover, which normally comes with a massive headache.

Sometimes, drinking doesn’t cause headaches in people, but in some people, alcohol has been found to trigger migraines as well. Alcohol can also cause cluster or tension headaches for some people.

Alcohol can do this because it’s a vasodilator, which means that it widens the blood vessels in your body and lets blood flow more freely since it’s not as constricted. 

However, vasodilators can cause headaches in a lot of people. Blood pressure medication is also a vasodilator and is known to cause headaches as a side effect.

Alcohol can also be a diuretic, which means that you will be dehydrated faster and lose more electrolytes. If you’re dehydrated, then you can get more headaches. 

Try Essential Oils

You can’t get more natural than essential oils. Essential oils are liquids that are highly concentrated and have aromatic compounds that come from a bunch of different plants. 

Most of them can be used topically and come with all kinds of benefits. However, you can ingest some of them.

Lavender and peppermint are important for treating headaches, so you can try and apply some peppermint oil to your temples to try and relieve a headache. This may work best for a tension headache. 

On the other hand, some people have said that lavender oil is really good at helping to reduce migraine pain if you apply it to your upper lip. 

Exercise

Exercise is important to keep your body healthy, but all the endorphins you get from it might help to reduce the pain of your headaches.
