Mary Bockovich (she/her) was recently named CEO of Allies for Health + Wellbeing. Bockovich previously served as chief operations officer and chief development officer of the organization, which was formerly the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force.
“Mary Bockovich has shown exceptional dedication to the mission of Allies for Health + Wellbeing for many years, and there is no one more qualified to lead the organization into the future,” said Bart Rauluk, Allies board president.
Allies for Health + Wellbeing provides integrated medical care, supportive human services and community-based education to individuals living with or at risk of HIV, viral hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections. The organization was founded as the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force in 1985 by Kerry Stoner and a small group of volunteers. Since then, Allies has expanded its focus from strictly HIV prevention and care to address the healthcare needs of the LGBTQ+ and other communities who have experienced discrimination. Allies’ healthcare services are available to everyone, and they include primary care, holistic HIV treatment, hepatitis C and STI testing and care, gender-affirming care, and behavioral health care.
Bockovich has more than 35 years of nonprofit experience, predominantly in the human services sector. Following a five-year tenure as a case worker at Catholic Charities, she moved into the field of fund development in 1994. Since then, she has served as Director of Development for Girl Scouts SWPA, KidsVoice, Familylinks and Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force. Bockovich’s years of development experience spans donor relations, annual giving, special events, and grant writing, as well as the agencies’ communications functions.
“I am both humbled and thrilled by the opportunity to serve as Allies CEO,” Bockovich said. “Allies has an extraordinary history of service, advocacy and impact, and I look forward to building on that tradition in a meaningful way. We have an incredible team at Allies, and I am excited about what we can accomplish together.”
Bockovich is a native of southwestern PA and a graduate of Duquesne University. She resides in Washington County with her life partner, Frank, and their dog, Winston.
