La Roche University recenty announced a new, 26-credit Doctor of Nursing Practice program.
Approved and accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, the program prepares graduates to assume clinical and academic leadership positions, with the ultimate goals of improving health care and patient outcomes.
Students can complete the DNP in three full time semesters, or part time in six semesters. Classes begin in Spring 2024. A list of application requirements is available online.
Acting Provost and Academic Dean Rosemary McCarthy, Ph.D., RN, said, “La Roche University has a long history of providing nursing education to address contemporary health care needs. The DNP is an excellent example of how the practice doctorate advances and empowers the nursing profession and, likewise, benefits patients.”
The DNP is an online program with a low residency requirement and includes the completion of a doctoral project. With a focus on evidence-based practice and leadership, the curriculum prepares students to make an impact on patient outcomes and health care policy. Students will work closely with experienced faculty, network with other nursing professionals and conduct research in various areas—from public health to chronic disease management.
The DNP is the second doctoral program La Roche has launched in response to changing health care trends and the workforce demands of the Pittsburgh region. In June 2022 La Roche announced two pathways for students to earn a Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice: Entry Level and Completion Level. The University also introduced a 30-credit Family Nurse Practitioner Post Master’s Certificate Program in May 2023.
