Every Child, Inc. (Every Child) recently announced a $250,000 grant awarded by the Richard King Mellon Foundation, in support of the agency’s general operations. These funds will enable Every Child to continue to provide comprehensive in-home support services to families in Allegheny and surrounding counties.
For the past 15 years, Every Child has provided invaluable services to some of the most high-risk youth and families in our region. In the wake of recent years’ financial setbacks and public funding cuts, Every Child has remained determined to deliver the highest quality of services to the clients and community that they serve.
Says Executive Director Jesse McLean, “These hard economic times have caused members of the non-profit community to think differently about how services are delivered while maintaining effectiveness.
This opportunity will assist us in achieving that outcome.” Over the next three years, the agency expects to provide services to 1,000 children and their families. Having expanded its mission statement and program offerings in 2011 to include services the impact the family in a more holistic manner, and with a heightened focus on community collaborations, Every Child is exciting about the timing of this grant.
Notification of this grant award provided for an encouraging conclusion to the 2012 calendar year. Last fall, Every Child was honored as Agency of the Year by the Alliance for Children and Families and completed the process of applying for accreditation by the Council on Accreditation (COA).
