Debra Maz Named Director of Medical Staff Services

Maz_Deb_4x6_WebWorking with physicians is nothing new for Debra Maz, who has joined Jefferson Regional Medical Center as Director of Medical Staff Services.

As a credentialing specialist for Heritage Valley Health System in Sewickley, her duties included facilitating medical staff leadership, departmental and peer review meetings, while serving as liaison to physicians, executive staff, ancillary departments and employees. Other past positions included management assistant to the CFO at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital, and assistant to the executive director at Aliquippa Hospital.

She also was community outreach specialist for Veterans Financial Inc., Villanova, Pa.; director of marketing and office management for The Pilot Group, Wexford; and served in several other capacities such as credit coordinator, claims processor, marketing and communications specialist. Debra earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Carlow University.

She said that one of her first goals in her new position is “to get to know the office personnel and to build on those relationships.” She already likes Jefferson for its great location and close-to-home care, and she hopes to work on improving the credentialing process for doctors.

“It’s an important step,” she said. “From a new physician’s standpoint, it’s one of the first experiences they have here.”
