Mount Nittany Health recently added D. Michael Chambers, DO, to Mount Nittany Physician Group General Surgery.
“As a surgeon, there’s no greater reward than helping another,” says Dr. Chambers. “I treat each patient as if they’re a member of my own family. To see their health improve after surgery, knowing that I played any part in that, is incredibly meaningful.”
Dr. Chambers earned his bachelor’s degree from Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, and completed post-baccalaureate work in pre-medicine at West Chester University in West Chester, Pennsylvania. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Chambers completed his general surgery residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Ft. Lewis, Washington. He spent nine years on active duty, recently separating as a Major from the U.S. Army. He served in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Dr. Chambers is a licensed osteopathic physician and board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
“Having been born and raised in Pennsylvania, I’m so excited to now be part of this wonderful community,” says Dr. Chambers. “My wife and I look forward to calling the area home.”
Outside of the office, Dr. Chambers enjoys spending family time with his wife of 14 years, Taylor, and their four young children.
