Baptist Homes Society Communities Develop Center of Excellence in Dementia Care

Updated on June 26, 2017

5-Star Rated Skilled Nursing and Personal Care Centers focus on personalized dementia care for residents.

Following months of planning, education and training, Baptist Homes Society communities announced the development of their third Center of Excellence, this time focused on the care and services provided for those with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. The Center of Excellence is not  ‘place’ but a formalized set of resources, programs and processes to ensure that people living in either community—Baptist Homes or Providence Point—are provided with the best possible care.

The Center of Excellence in Dementia Care was established to provide personalized care for each residence, enhance meaningful programming, educate staff, families and other caregivers, and provide effective ways to monitor and review the services provided.

Baptist Homes Society provides Personal Care level memory support services in a very lively, interactive environment at its Providence Point campus. For those with more advanced stages of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, Baptist Homes’ secure memory support unit offers care at the skilled nursing level.

All Baptist Homes Society direct care staff are provided with education and tools to help them provide the best possible care to those with dementia. The organization also provides support groups, geriatric psychiatry support and focuses on non-pharmalogical approaches to care.

The Center of Excellence in Dementia Care joins the Center of Excellence in Rehabilitation and the Center of Excellence in Wellness. The Centers of Excellence help to ensure that Baptist Homes Society communities remain at the forefront in providing exceptional care for seniors.
