Allegheny Health Network (AHN) announced today that it has expanded services at its primary care clinic in Downtown Pittsburgh to include the Golden Triangle’s first Express Care services for minor health issues. Express Care at AHN Downtown is now available on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; walk-ins are welcome.
Express Care is available for minor health conditions such as cold, flu or COVID-19 symptoms; sinus problems and allergies; rashes and infections; headaches and migraines; abdominal discomfort; muscle strains; and other similar illnesses. PCR testing provides patients with test results for COVID, flu, RSV and strep throat in less than one hour.
Located on the first floor of Highmark’s ‘Penn Avenue Place’ at 501 Penn Avenue, AHN Downtown first opened its doors in 2018, providing unprecedented access to high-quality, convenient care to those living and working Downtown. Today, its comprehensive primary care services include preventive exams, acute care for common illnesses, chronic disease management, immunizations, X-ray imaging, and more.
AHN Downtown is staffed by primary care physicians and certified registered nurse practitioners who work alongside an extended care team which includes registered nurses, a social worker, behavioral health consultant, clinical pharmacist, registered dietitian and health coach. Appointments are still required for primary care visits.
“The integration of primary and express care services provides patients with convenient, timely access to care, as well as improved care coordination among providers,” said Amy Crawford-Faucher, MD, vice chair, AHN Primary Care Institute. “As a critical health resource in the Golden Triangle, we are pleased to expand the services at AHN Downtown to more rapidly meet the health needs of those who live and work in the area.”
Patients in need of urgent care for minor issues outside of normal operating hours can schedule a 24/7 virtual urgent care visit via their MyChart account (www.ahn.org/mychart). Those experiencing more serious health issues or emergencies should call 911 or visit their nearest hospital emergency department.
