Michael McMullen, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), is now seeing patients at JHS Primary Care in Shenango, 1750 New Butler Road, New Castle.
JHS Primary Care, an entity of Jameson Health System, offers individuals of all ages with leading edge, researched-based procedures. Currently, the team is made up of three members. Located at JHS Primary Care in Shenango are Frank J. Melidona, D.O., family practice physician who serves adults of all ages with routine, urgent and chronic need; and now, Michael McMullen, DNP, whose primary focus is Adult Psychiatric Health, both located at JHS Primary Care in Shenango. Located at JHS Primary Care at Jameson South Campus, 1000 South Mercer Street, New Castle is Charles Wagner, D.O., with a specialty in internal medicine, primarily focusing on health of adult patients, providing examinations, prevention screenings, and immunizations;

McMullen graduated from the Doctor of Nursing Practice in Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Michigan-Flint in May of 2013. Before that, he received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Slippery Rock University in May of 2009 and received his Nursing Diploma from the Jameson Memorial School of Nursing in May of 2006.
“When I decided to continue my education, I chose the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at the University of Michigan because it exemplified the focus of leadership and management skills, which is in line with the expanding field of nursing demands,” shares Michael. “These qualities are becoming more and more important in nursing performance. The healthcare community recognizes that the perspective of nurses is a major part of patient care decisions, as well as the management of health care systems as a whole.”
McMullen began working at JHS Primary Care in February of this year, with a title of Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Before that, he worked as a shift supervisor at Edison Manor in New Castle, Pa., a psychiatric registered nurse at Jameson Behavior Health Services at Jameson South Campus in New Castle, and a student nurse extern at Jameson Health System emergency department at Jameson North Campus in New Castle. He also was a security supervisor for the Department of Homeland Security in Pittsburgh, Pa., a corrections officer at Lawrence County Corrections in New Castle, Pa. and a certified nursing assistant at Edison Manor in New Castle, Pa.
He has received certifications from the American Nursing Credentialing Center – Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Board Certification, CPR/AED/BLS Certification, United States Department of Transportation Security Administration Basic Screener Training Program (October 2002), and Department of Corrections Elizabethtown Training Academy (March 1995). He holds a license in the state of Pennsylvania as a Registered Nurse and Doctor of Nursing Practice – Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
