Why You Do Not Need to Fear Menopause

As if women don’t have enough to worry and think about when it comes to aging. Trying to look 20 years younger without having any work done. Looking red carpet ready just to go to the gas station. Then there’s the whole stigma attached to going through menopause

Women can go into menopause as early as in their 40’s. While there is no cure, there are plenty of ways to help manage the symptoms. Menopause isn’t something that should hold any woman back from living her best life.

Know the Symptoms

You can pretty much self-diagnose yourself with menopause. But here are some symptoms to look out for.

  • Night sweats
  • Hot flashes
  • Insomnia/waking earlier than normal
  • Hair loss
  • Dry skin/dry scalp/vaginal dryness/everything needs moisture
  • Loss of menstruation (should be the biggie)

These are really just a handful of symptoms. There are actually 34 changes that can happen to females during menopause. Thirty-four!

How to Manage

There are actually, thankfully maybe, some ways to naturally treat menopause. Normal things that can reduce anyone’s stress are also very great ways to manage menopause. So at least you don’t have to sacrifice some wild animal at midnight on a full moon. Or maybe do and let everyone know if that works or not.

  • Exercise more often
  • Drink at least 8 glasses of water
  • Wear as much cotton and linen clothing as you can
  • Keep in touch with friends and activities that bring you happiness
  • Meditate 
  • Yoga

It really seems like the easiest ways to help ease symptoms of menopause is a nice self-care routine. Well that’s not so scary.

Other Treatments

More severe symptoms should be brought to your doctor’s attention. If you are experiencing extreme symptoms there’s some more advanced treatments and medical interventions to try. 

  • Estrogen therapy
  • Vaginal therapy
  • Antidepressants 
  • DHEA supplements
  • Menopause supplements
  • Countless other supplements (just check that they won’t interfere with anything else)

Know Your Body

There are also some increased risks for some other diseases.

  • Osteoporosis
  • Diabetes
  • Hepatitis C
  • Gum Disease

As long as you monitor your symptoms and try to eat semi-healthily and get up off of the couch for a few minutes a day, you’ll be able to keep your symptoms under control.

Getting Past the Hurdle

Once a woman has gone through menopause and has not had her period for 12 month, then she has crossed into the postmenopausal phase. This is where some fun and freedom can take place. 

Now that you don’t have to worry about your period, there is zero chance to get pregnant. That can be a stress free time in a woman’s life, since we’ve spent the majority of it trying not to get pregnant, worrying about being pregnant, or actually being pregnant.

Also, the hot flashes will calm down eventually, so you don’t have to worry about that for the rest of your life. You don’t have to have three different layers in your purse in case of any body temperature changes. 

So Why the Big Fuss

Getting older is just another part of life. Just because men have literally nothing that happens to them… seriously… nothing… shouldn’t mean that women need another spotlight on them. Really, menopause is just something else that makes women bad boss ladies that shouldn’t be messed with.

Just remember that menopause is one more journey, one more stage in life that you get to experience. Embrace this phase like you would any other, and enjoy the benefits where you find them.
