Never a Dull Moment at Providence Point

Updated on November 16, 2018

“Did you sign the book?” is repeated often at Providence Point. This “book” refers to a massive registry of events in which residents clamber to enter their names to RSVP for events of all sorts within and outside of the senior living community. The consequence of not signing the book could mean an empty social calendar or missing out on an exciting outing-something unheard of at Providence Point.

Nine years ago when retirees began their move into Providence Point, it was apparent that the amenities would be put to good use. The fitness center, the day spa, the pool, the Chartiers Room and the Light Horse Lounge area are always bustling with activity. The schedule of events, created by the full-time events planner with guidance from the residents, continues to grow in quantity and variety.

The indoor parking garage, and the new non-denominational chapel certainly have distinguished the retirement community as a premier living space, but the plethora of activities truly separates Providence Point from its competition.

“Many of the events and programs offered at Providence Point are a direct result of resident planning and interests,” said Baptist Homes CEO Al Allison.  “Others are part of our philosophy of Wellness which focuses on six components: Social, Physical, Intellectual, Community, Emotional and Spiritual.”

From iPod and iPad tech classes, lectures and concerts, to recreational fun with bocce and corn hole, as well as offsite excursions for bowling, shopping, cultural events and dinners, there is never a need to sit idle.

Research shows that seniors who stay active remain healthier and live longer. If this is the case, Providence Point residents have found the Fountain of Youth. And the marketing team at Providence Point couldn’t be happier about it.

“Occupancy is currently at an all-time high and plans for a new residential tower are under way,” said Eileen Moore, the Director of Marketing for Independent Living. “We recognize the importance of social engagement and wellness, so offer our future residents an opportunity to participate NOW in many of Providence Point’s perks. Our depositors can benefit from our health and wellness philosophy before they even move in.”

There will be seventy apartment residences, ranging in size from 888 square feet to 1,764 square feet, in the new tower.  A connecting hallway to the conservatory area, along with underground and outdoor parking spaces, are all part of the development.

As part of Baptist Homes Society, Providence Point provides an active lifestyle that boasts amenities such as a Wellness Center that include a bank, full-service salon and spa, library, golf simulator, woodworking shop, and surround-sound theater. Residents take advantage of a variety of exercise classes and a full calendar of events, shows, educational programs, trips and outings.

“My husband and I were the second residents at the original apartments, and we would do it again now if we were in that situation,” said Joan Marcinko. “Nowhere else is there a pool and wellness center, indoor underground parking, nor the care that is housed here.”

Residents are excited about the addition of Providence Chapel and Hamilton Tower.  Currently, Providence Point is accepting reservations for the new tower and for its current inventory of patio homes and apartment residences. Informational events are held regularly and marketing staff are available for private tours and appointments.  About 40 percent of the Hamilton Tower apartments have already been reserved and the community is currently about 97 percent occupied.
