Is it True that Vaping Causes Serious Lung Diseases?

Updated on November 7, 2019

There have been a number of news reports – mainly in the USA – linking vaping to serious lung diseases. This is worrying, of course, as the reason for the tobacco smoking clampdown was due to similar factors. Is it true? Is there actually a direct link between vaping and serious lung conditions? There are various schools of thought regarding the subject, but there is no doubt that some people in the USA who vape regularly – quite a few, in fact – have developed lung diseases. Let’s have a look at what you need to know.

Is There a Link?

During 2019, there were around 1800 cases of lung disease in the USA in persons who used vaping products, mainly younger people. This is what led to alarm in the industry. However, there is more to it than simply vaping. The body that oversaw the investigation into these cases – the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) – conducted very thorough reviews and came up with a link that might possibly explain the problem: a substance called Vitamin E Acetate, which is present in some vaping devices, but not all. Furthermore, the CDC was careful to state that it could not – as of September, 2019 – link the illnesses to this product alone.

Another point that is important to note is that practically all of the reported cases involved products that were not licensed – e-cigarettes using oils containing tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is illegal in most states, and also nicotine, which is a known cause of illnesses such as these. So far, only one reported death from ling disease linked to vaping has involved a product purchased from a licensed dispensary.

The implication is, then, that it is not vaping as such that causes these reported lung conditions; it is vaping THC and nicotine infused products, bought from unlicensed suppliers. Indeed, the e-cigarette industry, represented by the American Vaping Association (AVA), has stated as such, pointing out that these substances are not present in the products it licenses for sale.

How to Stay Safe

It’s clear, then, that there are dangers with vaping, but it is possible to stay entirely safe if you are careful and do not buy illegal products. It is also the case that the relevant bodies in the healthcare industry in the USA are continuing to monitor the situation. What can you do to stay safe when vaping? We recommend you only buy your vaping oils from a well-known online vape shop as that will be licensed and carry only safe, tried and tested products.

What are the benefits of buying from a reputable retailer? Quite simply, the quality of the products they sell will be assured. They will be able to supply you with vaping e-liquids that come from reputable manufacturers,  that have been tested for safety, and that do not contain any of the damaging ingredients that have been found in the illegal vape juices used by those who have suffered lung disease.

There are some legitimate concerns about vaping, and as a relatively new market this is to be expected, but there is no conclusive evidence that vaping legal e-liquids causes lung diseases. Ongoing monitoring of the market makes it safer all the time, with illegal products being eliminated from the market, and the AVA is committed to making sure that the products its regulated suppliers ell are safe, enjoyable and of the highest quality.

Check out a reputable supplier now for the best choice, lowest prices and best quality vaping products available, and you can continue to enjoy your vaping as you have up to now.
