Biohacking Arrives in Western Pennsylvania with Rest Active’s First Location in Wexford

Updated on April 16, 2022

When it comes to tapping the power of both the body’s and the mind’s power to heal and restore, something has been missing. Athletes train to get stronger and more fit. People engage in medical treatments and physical therapy to recover from injury. But what’s been missing is a comprehensive and more holistic approach to maximizing recovery and mobility.

Biohacking is the discipline that has emerged to leverage breakthroughs in science and technology, and in human understanding, to help individuals improve total body function. Now, biohacking is coming to the Western Pennsylvania region with biohacking innovator Rest Active’s opening of its first location in Wexford.

“The feedback we’re getting from those who’ve joined Rest Active during its pre-launch period has been tremendous,” said Rob Wagner, Managing Director of Rest Active. “They’re all ages and fitness levels, and many are being exposed for the first time to what they can do to take charge of their own performance, health and wellness through on-site technologies and therapies which they were not aware existed before.”

Biohacking is a process for changing your body to help feel your best regardless of age or physical condition. More to the point, it means using a variety of scientifically rooted “hacks” that when customized and combined work best for the individual.

Rest Active provides treatments that help achieve peak athletic performance, support the immune system, reduce inflammation, speed up recovery, enhance cognition, eliminate toxins, improve longevity, boost energy, and support better sleep.

Treatments include: infrared sauna therapy; ARRC LED red light therapy; cryotherapy; Ballancer®Pro lymphatic massage; compression therapy, zero body float therapy; BEMER pulsed electro-magnetic field therapy; NuCalm drugless relaxation therapy; HALO salt respiratory therapy; Migun infrared heat and massage therapy; guided meditation; assisted stretch; Exercise With Oxygen Therapy.

“The real advantage our members have discovered is that prior to joining Rest Active, on rare occasions where they may have had access to only one or two of these treatments through a medical provider, it was not without significant personal expense, or with restrictive access because health insurance plans only approve so much,” said Wagner. “At Rest Active, our members not only have affordable access, but they have a wider range of options than they could find at just about any traditional health and wellness facility. And they have that access when they want it.”

How it Works

Members can choose packages that give them access to all of Rest Active’s modalities, or they can customize services specifically to their own needs and goals. They can receive customized, personal, physical and cognitive support, along with all of the modalities that are offered on site. Ultimately, members create a personalized program for improved physical and cognitive performance.

A young athlete may seek peak athletic performance and restoration. That member will take advantage of the therapies and modalities to recover more effectively between workouts and as a complement to their training.

Athletically active adults may want to maintain a rigorous fitness regimen with reduced risk of injury and the related disruption to their lifestyle.

People with injuries or chronic conditions may want to prevent more aggressive medical procedures like surgery or avoid reliance on pain medications and other drugs. Their Rest Active program would promote healing so that they can improve mobility and return to a more active lifestyle.

And mature adults often find that their Rest Active program effectively complements other lifestyle choices that help them improve mobility and longevity, reduce inflammation, detoxify, and manage stress and pain.
