The Allegheny County Medical Society (ACMS) will honor outstanding physicians and community partners at its 2025 Distinguished Awards Celebration, recognizing exemplary service, leadership, and compassion in healthcare throughout Allegheny County.
The event will take place on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the PNC Champions Club, Acrisure Stadium, and will celebrate the individuals and organizations who embody ACMS’s mission to advance excellence in medicine and community service.
This year’s honorees include:
• Dr. Maria D. Gioia, DO — Nathaniel Bedford Primary Care Award
• Dr. Anita Leon-Jhong, MD — Richard E. Deitrick Humanity in Medicine Award
• Dr. Raymond E. Pontzer, MD — Ralph Wilde Leadership Award
• The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh — Benjamin Rush Community Award (Organization)
• Janice Goldsborough, MS — Benjamin Rush Community Award (Individual)
• Dr. Lawrence R. John, MD — ACMS Spirit of Service Award
ACMS will also recognize the 2025 Allegheny County recipients of the Pennsylvania Medical Society’s “Top Physicians Under 40” Award.
The celebration supports the ACMS Foundation’s Physician Wellness Program, featuring a fundraising campaign led by Dr. John to raise $30,000 to strengthen wellness resources for physicians throughout the region.
