Facility Brings Together the Medical Expertise of UPMC Passavant and UPMC St. Margaret Under One Roof to Deliver Coordinated Primary Care for Adults and Children

UPMC has unveiled a first-of-its-kind facility in the region to deliver coordinated primary health care for children and adults. The ribbon was cut today at the UPMC Outpatient Center located in Hampton Township, 4490 Mt. Royal Blvd., Allison Park, Pa., and the 44,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art medical mall complex opens for service next week.

“This represents a significant strategic landmark in UPMC’s history of providing exceptional patient care,” said Dave Martin, senior vice president, Health Services Division, UPMC, and president, UPMC Passavant. “This $19 million community investment provides a wide range of outpatient services for patients in the area and brings together the talent and expertise of the clinical and administrative staff of UPMC St. Margaret and UPMC Passavant,” Martin added. “Our UPMC teams worked very hard behind the scenes paving the way for a facility of this magnitude to open and operate here for our patients.”

“Our Hampton center provides a full spectrum of primary care services for both adults and pediatrics,” said Dave Patton, president, UPMC St. Margaret. “This facility is UPMC’s debut of our medical home concept in which we create a base for primary care and related services under one roof. Hampton and surrounding communities can now locally access coordinated outpatient services that have been carefully considered with patient access and convenience top of mind.”

Patton added, “Its central location also is by design. Whether you consider your community hospital to be UPMC St. Margaret or UPMC Passavant, the Hampton outpatient facility is for you.”

This exciting new medical mall complex is bringing together multiple physician practices located along the Route 8 corridor — enabling resources to be shared, while at the same time reducing costs.

On-site medical services are delivered seven days a week with same-day appointments available for primary care and comprehensive medical services for patients of all ages.

UPMC Outpatient Center in Hampton is certified by Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, a rating system of the United States Green Building Council that evaluates the environmental performance of a building and encourages sustainability.

The newly constructed building, designed by IKM Incorporated, has a thoughtful, contemporary design featuring a three-story glass atrium, large waiting areas on staggered balconies and defined, open clinical space. The interior design incorporates a color palette that helps with wayfinding so that patients can easily navigate the space. Pediatric care areas include large, colorful murals in exam rooms — creating a friendly, caring environment.

“Providing health care in an outpatient setting like this is proven to be the best model for preventive and primary care,” Martin said. “This community investment is important to UPMC — it’s helping us to deliver on our mission to extend world-class health care into our communities.”
