On Monday, July 31, UPMC Jameson’s new Outpatient Center, located at 1211 Wilmington Ave., New Castle, Pa., opens for service. The newly renovated facility on the ground floor of the hospital features The Heart and Vascular Institute at UPMC Jamesonand The UPMC Esophageal and Lung Surgery Institute at UPMC Jameson, and now is home to centralized patient registration, imaging, diagnostics and infusion services.

“We’re transforming our community hospital to advance local access to world-class care,” said Don Owrey, president, UPMC Jameson. “UPMC has invested to renovate the once-vacant former Emergency Department space at Jameson into a state-of-the-art facility. Now, as the northern hub for cardiovascular services, patients in our communities have convenient access to UPMC’s innovations and expertise.”
A community open house and ribbon cutting ceremony held yesterday was a celebration by employees, patients and the community, of these advancements that are raising the level of care available locally.

Additional hospital renovations at UPMC Jameson featured during Tuesday’s open house included an improved outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation center on the hospital’s fifth floor and a newly renovated space for the UPMC Center for Wound Healing Services at UPMC Jameson, relocated from Jameson’s South Campus facility.

Since Jameson’s merger with UPMC just over one year ago, UPMC has invested more than $31 million in facility upgrades.

“This is an exciting day for our communities, and the proudest moment of my professional career,” said Beth Piccione, M.D., vice president, Medical Affairs, UPMC Jameson, and director, northern tier, UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute, about the grand opening of the new Heart and Vascular Institute at UPMC Jameson. “We’ve opened a new access point to fully integrated and advanced cardiovascular care right here in New Castle.”

Dr. Piccione continues, “Our UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute is a game-changer for this hospital and the patients in our region. This is now a place to come for all your cardiovascular needs―we’re here to navigate you through every phase of your care.”

Vascular surgeons from UPMC Passavant and UPMC Horizon will join the cardiologists of The Heart and Vascular Institute at UPMC Jameson to expand the scope of testing, treatments and procedures available locally.

The Heart and Vascular Institute at UPMC Jameson is seamlessly connected to world-class cardiologists and surgeons at UPMC through cutting-edge technology and open communication models.

“UPMC has shown us they are investing in our communities,” said Piccione. “This dream would never have become real―we couldn’t have done this without the support of UPMC.”

“We’re celebrating the first of many major service line and facility enhancements planned for UPMC facilities in our region,” said Owrey. “This demonstrates progress toward our goal to improve health care delivery in Lawrence and Mercer counties. We can now say we are delivering levels of care never-before-seen in this area.”
