Former Pennsylvania Senator Sean Wiley Joins LECOM Administration

The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) recently welcomed former State Senator Sean Wiley who has joined the College’s administration as the Institutional Director of Public Engagement.

Sen. Wiley served the 49th district of Pennsylvania from 2012 to 2016.  Prior to his service in the State Senate, Wiley served as the Director of the Saint Vincent Foundation and Government Relations, as well as serving Erie County, Pennsylvania as the Director of Administration.

Over the course of his career in public service, the Senator has earned a reputation of hard work, strong leadership and a commitment to the community in which he served.  These attributes transition well into his new role at LECOM.

The relationships that Senator Wiley has developed over the years, will assist him in raising the level of awareness of the significant impact LECOM is making in each community where the college has campuses.  “While the LECOM name is very well recognized in the Erie area as a leader in healthcare and education,” said Sen.Wiley, “I feel that there is an opportunity to enhance the presence of the institution in Erie as well as at the other campus locations. I believe that my experiences and skill set will assist in reaching the goals of the institution.”

In addition to raising awareness of the LECOM brand, Senator Wiley will also be looking to boost the Student Scholarship Fund.  “The burden of considerable debt after graduation is overwhelming for many students, Sen. Wiley said. “ LECOM addresses this issue through its annual Student Scholarship Fund Auction, which helps alleviate some of the financial burden that our medical students face.  We must continue to provide this relief for our young professionals.”

Sen. Wiley will also be providing counsel on future community investments to be made by the institution. “LECOM is at the forefront when it comes to giving back to the community,’ he said.  Sen. Wiley hopes to find more opportunities to support local organizations and show the Erie, Greensburg and Bradenton communities that LECOM is with them.
