Physician Assistant Joins Orthopedic Team

Johnstown native Emery Mock, ATC, PA-C, has joined Western Pennsylvania Orthopedics and Sports Medicine and will now be seeing patients at the office and during rounds at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.

Mock, a graduate of Conemaugh Township Area High School in Davidsville, received a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. He then went on to obtain a Master of Physician Assistant Studies also from Duquesne.

A high school athlete, Mock was sidelined three times with a torn ACL. “I became very familiar with athletic trainers and orthopedic surgeons because of my injuries,” says Mock. “That experience led to my interest in pursuing a career in sports medicine, first in athletic training and then I decided to go on for an additional three years of study to pursue my Physician Assistant degree.”

In his role with Western Pennsylvania Orthopedic and Sports Medicine, Mock will be helping to treat patients in the office providing care for acute and chronic orthopedic conditions including osteoarthritis, fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains. He will be part of the team caring for inpatient orthopedic patients at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center and will also assist with surgical cases in the operating room.

Mock is an Eagle Scout. During his college years, he interned with the Pittsburgh Pirates working closely with the Pirates athletic training, strength and conditioning staff.
