The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Board of Trustees has announced the election of Jay S. Feldstein, DO, as the College’s eighth President and Chief Executive Officer following a thirteen month executive search. Dr. Feldstein will assume his responsibilities on July 1, 2014, following a transition period beginning May 15. He succeeds Matthew Schure, PhD, who joined the College as president and chief executive officer in 2001.
An alumnus of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) class of 1981, Dr. Feldstein holds an impressive record of success in healthcare management. Currently, as President, Northern Division, Pennsylvania Managed Care Plans at AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies, Dr. Feldstein has P & L responsibility for all health plans, including network management, patient management, quality, marketing and related activities for 700,000 at risk members in Pennsylvania, DC, Nebraska and Indiana. He is also responsible for TPA services for health plans in Michigan and New Jersey providing administrative services for 600,000 members.
Dr. Feldstein earned his bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from PCOM. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at the Medical Center of Delaware and his internship at JFK Hospital in Stratford, New Jersey. He is board certified in emergency medicine and occupational medicine and is a fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine.
