JEVS at Home Brings Home Care Excellence to Allegheny County

Updated on July 29, 2016

JEVS at Home, a registered 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization providing non-medical home care support services to disabled and aging individuals, announced plans to open an office in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 5.

With a service area including Philadelphia, Delaware, Montgomery, Chester, Bucks and now Allegheny counties, JEVS at Home is one of the largest home care service providers in Pennsylvania, continually recognized for their integrity of service, ethical focus, client trust and commitment to home care excellence.

“Bringing a caregiver into your home for yourself or a loved one is a highly emotional process that also needs to include the practical decisions of cost, coverage, experience and service capabilities,” said Aurora Kripa, CEO, JEVS at Home. “JEVS at Home understands all this and it truly shows in our service model, training programs and culture. Since establishing JEVS at Home in 2012, we’ve honed our approach and capabilities, established our name, and built a stellar reputation in southeastern Pennsylvania. We’re excited to now bring all of this to the communities of Allegheny County and our commitment to these residents is as steadfast as it is to all those we’ve served in the past 5 years.”

To facilitate the expansion into Allegheny County and help assure those in need receive quality service as quickly as possible and at a maximum comfort level for participants and loved ones, JEVS at Home has partnered with Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Pittsburgh (JF&CS).

“Our partnership with JF&CS was a natural step,” Kripa continued. “JF&CS has long-standing relationships with thousands of people in the region, so that critical factor of receiving care from someone you know and trust is already in place. This is a true partnership through which we are confident we will enhance JF&CS’s current services for senior and elder care, as well as expand home care for other populations in need of it.”

“We are very happy to be coming together with JEVS at Home in this way and at this critical time as Pennsylvanians face significant changes in the way in which long-term care is managed by the State,” said Jordan Golin, Psy. D. COO and Director of Clinical & Elder Care Services at JF&CS. “In the communities currently served by JEVS at Home, 98% of JEVS at Home clients would recommend them to friends and family. Satisfaction like that doesn’t come easily and JF&CS is proud that through this partnership we can extend this high-level of home care service to the communities counting on us.”

JEVS at Home: Beginnings, growth, and services

JEVS (Formerly Jewish Employment and Vocational Services) is not an unfamiliar name for many people of Allegheny County, the non-profit company having introduced its Supports for Independence (SFI) program in the area in 1984. Launched in Philadelphia in 2012, JEVS at Home quickly distinguished itself from other home care services in the region for its excellence of care, dedication to improved quality of life, and focus on helping clients – as well as loved ones – maintain as much independence and “normalcy” as possible.

Services provided by JEVS at Home include, but are not limited to: assistance with bathing, grooming, and dressing; meal preparation; light housekeeping; making beds and changing the linens; laundry; supportive care; encouragement and assistance with light exercise; help with errands, grocery shopping and attending community events; and assistance to doctor’s appointments.

JEVS at Home: “At home” with the changing landscape of Managed Long Term Care

With their experience, breadth of service, established reputation, and focus on maintaining client independence, JEVS at Home feels they are perfectly in sync with Governor Tom Wolf’s vision for Pennsylvania’s new managed care approach, “Community HealthChoices.” The hope for Community HealthChoices is that it will result in reduced long-term care costs, better coordination of the currently fragmented system, and ultimately as much independence for seniors and persons with disabilities as possible.

“Community HealthChoices is all about allowing people to receive better services at lower costs, with less stress and hassle, and in more independent home and community-based environments – and JEVS at Home is all for that!” said, Maryann Ludwig, Chief Strategy Officer, JEVS At Home. “In fact, I’d go as far to say we’ve been advocating for this since day one. More options and independence for seniors, persons with disabilities, and those with other physical challenges is in our DNA, no doubt. We’re excited about the changes on the horizon and are ready, willing, and able to get to work with the new approach.”

JEVS at Home is a registered 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization providing non-medical home care support services to disabled and aging clients residing in Philadelphia, Delaware, Montgomery, Chester, Bucks and Allegheny Counties in Pennsylvania. Services are provided without regard to race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, place of birth, sex, sexual orientation, familial status, age, handicap or disability.
