8 Treatments for Premature Ejaculation

Updated on November 19, 2020

Premature ejaculation…two words with the power to make things very awkward between you and your partner. This is especially true for first-time experiences. You’re having a good time with your guy/girl and then oops, it’s over. Yeah, that’s probably not a conversation you’re going to want to have right then. The mood’s killed, you’re energy is drained, and you’re left feeling embarrassed.

Thankfully, there are a few ways to treat premature ejaculation so that you don’t feel so bad if and/or when it happens.

1: Medication

Medication is always an obvious one and usually the recommended medication in sex-related articles; is Viagra. In this case, however, that wouldn’t work – at least not for this problem. Viagra helps men achieve an erection as far as I was able to find, it doesn’t help in delaying orgasm. When it comes to delaying orgasm, there are a few other things that work.

Anaesthetic creams help to reduce sensation and are readily available. These are very effective but they can sometimes have side-effects i.e. decreased sensitivity and pleasure.

Anti-depressants and analgesics can also be used although they also tend to have some nasty side-effects. These side-effects may include: headaches, nausea, drowsiness, and dizziness. Please Note: You’ll probably need to visit a doctor and get a prescription for the medications & always make sure you use a trusted pharmacy.

2: Use Condoms

Yes, really. Certain types of condoms are made of thicker latex and others contain agents like lidocaine which numbs the penis. Either one will reduce sensation and delaying orgasm. Condoms are available over-the-counter at most grocery/convenience stores, and pharmacies.

3: Counselling

Okay so I mentioned that there’s a feeling of embarrassment that comes with premature ejaculation. That embarrassment can cause a rift between you and your partner. Counselling involves talking to a mental health professional about your problems and working through them. This will be a bit awkward at first but it’ll help sort out any relationship issues that you may be experiencing.

4: Experiment with Other Areas of Sexual Pleasure

Intercourse is NOT the extent of all of sexual pleasures. There are other avenues that you and your partner can explore whenever you feel like it. This removes some of the pressure around your encounters and provides a potentially new experience for you both. You also get a chance to focus more on the intimacy surrounding sex as opposed to just the intercourse by itself. This is something that I’m sure would be mutually beneficial and much appreciated.

5: Change your Eating Habits

This is a more natural way to delay orgasm; change your diet.

There are certain foods i.e. beef, yogurt, almonds, and dark chocolate, which extend the time that it takes to reach a climax. No surprise there, right? You change your diet and it can help you last longer in the bedroom.

6: Masturbation and the Start/Stop Method

Masturbation is one form of activity that leads to sexual release – this is common knowledge. That release can reduce the need for a quick climax…I don’t think I need to explain why. Now, the start/stop method is something I’ve mentioned in other articles and it’s essentially exactly what it sounds like.

You work yourself right up to the edge and stop the sexual activity just before ejaculating. Take some time to relax and start again when you’ve calmed down a bit. This process can be repeated as needed and helps to delay orgasm.

7: Traditional Medicines

Okay, this is something with which you must be very careful!

Regular use of traditional Chinese and Indian herbal medicines can improve your stamina and energy while increasing the time to ejaculate by a few minutes. That said, however, this isn’t something you want to mess around with. Like with prescription meds, taking the wrong stuff can be very nasty. Even the legit medicines have some side-effects: stomach pain, dizziness, etc. It doesn’t help matters that the average Joe doesn’t know what’s legit and what is illegitimate (most of the time). That lack of knowledge can lead to serious consequences.

So, there you have it; 7 treatments for premature ejaculation. I hope you found this article informative, thank you for reading.
