In November 2012, Bethany Hospice lost Linda L. Peterson, a dear friend and devoted colleague, following her long battle with Sjögren’s syndrome. With an eldercare career spanning over 20 years, she spent a lifetime dedicated to the service of others and touched many lives. Linda was a member of Bethany Hospice’s start-up team and was with us for over 7 years as the Volunteer Coordinator. Intuitively alert to the needs of others, Linda seemed to effortlessly alleviate suffering and bring joy to all whom she encountered.

In Linda’s memory, Bethany Hospice established the Bethany Hospice / Linda L. Peterson Endowed Memorial Scholarship through Duquesne University’s School of Nursing. In a little over a year, we have raised more than half of the $50,000 goal required to permanently endow Linda’s scholarship. We have achieved this entirely through word-of-mouth and the generosity of Bethany Hospice staff and Linda’s family and friends.

On April 12th, Bethany Hospice and Duquesne University will host a luncheon and auction at the Grand Concourse. Our goal is to permanently endow Linda’s scholarship by raising the remaining portion of the $50,000. The date of this event holds great significance for us as it is National Volunteer Week. A champion for volunteers, Linda was indefatigable in her efforts to weave the spirit of service into all aspects of her personal and professional life.

Tickets are available in advance for $30. To order, please contact Betsy Mazzoni at 412-921-2209 or [email protected].
