Paris Companies and CEO, David Stern, Win Third Consecutive “Smart 50” Award

Updated on November 17, 2016

Repeating its 2014 and 2015 selections, Paris Companies is honored as one of the Pittsburgh region’s best-run companies for 2016.

Paris Companies and CEO, David Stern, were recently selected as members of the greater Pittsburgh area Smart 50 for 2016.  Paris provides linen management,  laundry, and uniform rental services to healthcare and industrial markets.  The Smart 50 Award recognizes companies that stand out in leadership, innovation, sustainability and impact on the region.  Smart Business Magazine, a national consortium of business management journals, hosts the annual awards, and Paris is one of only three companies honored for the third consecutive year in 2016.

Despite Pennsylvania losing 35% of its manufacturing jobs from 1994 to 2016, Paris more than tripled its employment over the last twenty years and has never imposed a layoff despite six national recessions since Mr. Stern joined his father’s company in 1973.  In 2016, Paris will conclude its thirty-eighth consecutive year of revenue growth.  “It’s an accomplishment that reflects our commitment to build trust and long-term relationships with our customers,” Stern stated.  A multi-million dollar plant expansion, completed in October, will help the company retain its market leadership position and support future growth opportunities.

“I am honored to accept this award on behalf of my management team and all the employees of Paris Companies,” said Stern, “and we thank our customers for their continued loyalty and support.”
