Jefferson Regional Medical Center Board of Directors Announces John J. Dempster as CEO

The Board of Directors of Jefferson Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that John J. Dempster, a current member of the board of directors, has accepted the role of Chief Executive Officer of Jefferson Regional.

This change is effective March 1, 2011. Thomas P. Timcho will continue to serve as President of the Medical Center until his retirement on May 31, 2011, at which time Dempster will take on the roles of both President and CEO.

During this three-month period, Timcho will work closely with Dempster and the management team to ensure a smooth transition.

“The Board of Directors recognizes that the management team at Jefferson Regional is extremely effective,” said Charles Modispacher, Chairman of the Jefferson Regional Board. “We were very fortunate to be able to choose an internal candidate. John Dempster has played a critical role in the growth and development of the Medical Center since 1976. The Board is very happy that he has accepted this position and looks forward to a continued successful relationship.”

Dempster has been affiliated with Jefferson Regional for 35 years in various capacities. He was instrumental in the development of the Heart Institute at Jefferson Regional and recruitment of key physicians. He brings extensive experience in strategic planning and in managing significant external relationships.

It has been a privilege and an honor to be a part of this organization for so many years, and to contribute to its growth and success, particularly in the ever-changing healthcare environment. I look forward to this new challenge,” said Dempster.

Dempster previously held the position of President & Chief Executive Officer with the Dempster Healthcare Group, and prior to that served as Partner & Chief Executive Officer at Daniel Stern and Associates, working with 400 hospitals throughout the United States. Mr. Dempster has served on the St. Francis Medical Center and St. Francis Health System Boards of Directors. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh.

Jefferson Regional Medical Center is a fully accredited 373-bed, non-profit, acute medical care facility offering inpatient, outpatient, and 24-hour emergency services.
