Dr. Heyl becomes a third generation Family Medicine practitioner following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.  “I’ve always wanted to be a doctor,” he noted, “especially after watching my Dad and his dedication to his patients.  It’s a thrill to be joining my Dad’s practice and the Genesis Medical Associates family.”

Dr. Heyl, a West View resident, earned his medical degree from American University of the Caribbean at St. Marteen.  He received a post-baccalaureate certification from Drexel University in Philadelphia after earning his bachelor’s degree from Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, PA.

Besides his medical license, Dr. Heyl achieved certifications in Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Lift Support and Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics.  During his chief residency at St. Margaret’s, Dr. Heyl served on a series of Hospital boards and committees.

Dr. Louis Heyl, Scott’s father, and Dr. Shoenthal were two of the founding partners of Genesis Medical Associates in 1995.  Dr. Lou Heyl serves as the group’s president.  The largest independent primary care physicians group serving the North Hills, Genesis has 11 offices stretching north from the city of Pittsburgh to Cranberry Township in Butler County.  Genesis Medical Associates is a Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home and a partner in Keystone Clinical Partners, an Accountable Care Organization in contract with Medicare.
