Conemaugh Welcomes Neonatologist

Dr. Anuj Malik, FAAP, a neonatologist specializing in ill and premature newborns, has joined Conemaugh Physician Group – Ob/GYN and is now caring for patients in Conemaugh Memorial’s Regional Intensive Care Nursery.

Board certified in general pediatrics, Dr. Malik is a graduate of Dr. Vaishampayan Memorial Government Medical College in Solapur, India. He completed an internship at Philadelphia Hospital in Ambala City, India, and a general pediatrics residency at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, New York. Dr. Malik then went on to complete a Neonatal Perinatal Medicine Fellowship at West Virginia University Children’s Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia.

Dr. Malik chose the specialty of neonatology after his residency training. “I had a lot of hands on training treating babies and felt this was an area where I really could make a difference,” says Dr. Malik. He is passionate about his field and has a particular interest in nutrition for premature infants and the impact it has on their neurological development. He has conducted numerous research studies including research on Group B strep bacteria as it relates to pneumonia in newborns.

“I am excited to be at Conemaugh and working with Dr. Chan and the team at Conemaugh’s Regional Intensive Care Nursery. I look forward to building relationships with the community and my patients.”

Dr. Malik and his wife, an Internal Medicine Hospitalist at Somerset Hospital, reside in Richland. When not caring for patients, they enjoy tennis, travel and Netflix.

Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center offers the highest level of care for premature and ill newborns through its Level 3 Regional Intensive Care Nursery. The unit provides medical, surgical, and pulmonary care.
