Conemaugh Memorial Welcomes Two Hospitalists

Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center welcomes two hospitalists to provide care for inpatients at its main campus on Franklin Street, Johnstown. Ryan Harris, DO and Najwa Pervin, MD join Apogee Physicians to coordinate care of inpatients and provide communication to each patient’s primary care physician and care team.

Ryan Harris, DO holds a bachelor degree in chemistry and a bachelor degree in biology, both from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He attended medical school at Lake Eric College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by an Internal Medicine residency at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.

Dr. Harris is excited to continue providing care at Conemaugh Memorial. “This will be my sixth year with Conemaugh. It’s a great hospital with wonderful staff and physicians,” he says. “I enjoy caring for inpatients because of the variety of patients. I can help a patient transform from sick to well and help them return home. It’s very rewarding.”

Originally from Arkansas, Dr. Harris finds similarity in the Johnstown community. “Both areas have nice people,” he says. “The only real difference is winter weather, Arkansas gets more ice, Johnstown gets more snow.” Dr. Harris and his wife, who is also a physician at Conemaugh Memorial, enjoy traveling and site-seeing when not treating patients.

Najwa Pervin, MD holds a bachelor degree in medicine and surgery from Dow University of Health Sciences in Karachi, Pakistan. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.

Dr. Pervin enjoys providing inpatient care as a Hospitalist. “It’s rewarding to help each patient throughout each step of care during their hospital admission,” she says. “There’s great satisfaction in discharging a patient and sending them home in better health than when they arrived.”

Dr. Pervin’s husband is currently completing his Internal Medicine residency at Conemaugh Memorial, and they are both eager to provide patient care to local residents. When not treating patients, Dr. Pervin enjoys hiking, painting, and crocheting.
